Descripción The change of the European and regional policy toward integrated management of landscapes and environmental systems for disaster risk reduction is one of the present vital scientific and societal challenges that require innovative methodologies. The main focus of the interdisciplinary research group PaleoRisk is to fill this gap of knowledge by developing temporal-spatial (4D-) models through an interdisciplinary integration of multi-archive datasets. This approach will contribute new insights into the dynamics of extreme events, impact, and natural and anthropic forcings under the effect of Climate Change and human action in the Alps, New Zealand, Catalonia and the Betic Ranges. The analysis of the frequency and spatial variability of past extreme events and trends (last millennia) and climate modelling is vital to interpret accurately the recent dynamics and human-environment interactions, as well as to achieve sustainable land management and effective disaster risk reduction.
